Here is a Generic version of Gokuns tutorial for CD GEN. No body said it's gonna be easy. If you have downloaded a CCS File just goto the Build CD instructions further down the page. WHAT YOU NEED: -------------- ISOBuster or similar CD Generator kit (includes buildcd, stripiso, and ccs2cti) Fireburner or similar. GETTING STARTED: ---------------- When installing your tools put them all in 1 directory it just makes it easier. The first thing you'll want to do is pull the files from the CD or BIN to your hard drive. You can do this with ISOBuster . To make things simpler, let's assume you pull it to c temp\data. The data directory can be the name of your game I.E. SMUG for Smugglers Run. In c temp you have your Cd Generator package. LBA Explanation:- LBA is the position at which the file is on the CD. The most important things to remember this is not guaranteed but has been succesful for alot of people. And the SYSTEM.CNF should be at LBA 12231 and the SLES/SLUS should be at LBA 24. THE LICENSE. ------------ OK,now that we're all set up let's get started. Load up CD Generator. On the first screen that comes up you'll see a box in the bottom right corner which says "Additional"-Click it. In the second area(underneath where it says playstation) enter the following(using our dir assumption stated above): c temp\cdtools\license\licensea.dat and hit Enter. Note: I don't know think this is really neccessary;it's just in case. Now click the Button labeled "Directory" at the top of the screen, under the menus. This takes you to your dir setup screen. Find the Edit menu in the top and click the following: Edit\Place Files and Folders. Your file selection dialogue comes up. You'll notice that you have two windows from which to choose. For choosing individual files it doesn't matter which you use. If you would like to input an entire dir however, you will need to use the left one. Simply highlight the dir you want and hit ok. Moving on...Now that your dialogue is open is time to start selecting files. Select the SLUS/SLES file and hit OK. You'll now be back at the Directory window and you'll notice that the SLUS/SLES is now shown in the root dir. Click The "Layout" button at the top. This screen shows your LBAs,etc and also allows you to change the order of files. More importantly this screen allows you to actually *specify* the LBA you want the file at. Notice the LBA of the SLUS/SLES file It should be 24. If it is not then highlight the file and click on the "Location" button at the bottom of the screen. When the dialoge appears enter in 24 and hit OK. Now that we've seen that we click the "Directory" button again to go back to the Directory screen. Now, one at a time, input the files using Edit\Place Files and Folders in the following order(I'm assuming you've already loaded in SLUS/SLES and made sure it's at LBA 24): Next input the rest of the game files. Then highlight SYSTEM.CNF click Location button at the bottom of the screen and input 12231. Now you have done this. Try to set the rest of the game files to there origional LBA's. Some times it's better to put STR and DAT files last. It is just trial and error. If it doesn't work 1st time just try again in a different file order. But the SLES and SYSTEM FILES have to be at the above LBA's. Next choose File and Save as *.CCS and save it in the same directory as Build CD. Now close CD-GEN and goto Dos prompt. Assuming all the tools are in the same directory. Type: ccs2cti yourfile.ccs. This will in turn create yourfile.CTI. BUILD CD INSTRUCTIONS: ---------------------- Now type: buildcd -iTEST.IMG yourfile.cti. TEST.IMG can be what ever name you want I.E. SMUG.IMG for Sugglers Run. Ignore the warning At the top right you'll see a percentage; this is your progress indicator. Once it has reached 100% wait a second or three(just to be safe) and hit the Esc key. Now type: stripiso s 2352 TEST.IMG Whatever-you-want.ISO. this will create you mode2/XA iso of your game ready to burn. This gives you NO indication of progress and takes a little while so be patient. When the program throws you back to the DOS prompt it will say done. BURNING INSTRUCTIONS: --------------------- Open up Fireburner and select "Visual Cue Burner/Binchunker" and drag your ISo into the window. It will tell you it's a mode2/xa 2352 data track. This is good. Now highlight the track and right click. Select Burn/Test Burn. At this dialogue choose your speed(I burned at max speed-but do whatever you're comfortable with). Also choose as your recording method TAO. None of the boxes on the right should be checked except Eject CD and Close Session. Click OK and let it burn.
